Inspired by the people, places, and things of Dominican Republic.
I: A Global Cultural Force
Dominican culture is globally influential.
This is reflected in everything from the music of artists like Bad Bunny, Shakira, and Rosalía, to culturally significant releases like Nike’s “De Lo Mio” Air Force 1 and Air Max collections, the country’s consistent production of baseball superstars, and its deep influence on hip-hop culture itself.
II: Defining Cultural Touchpoints
Many of the most influential brands and companies became powerful not just because of the products they sold, but because they became closely tied to a specific culture, community, or way of life.
From Patagonia and outdoor culture, to Supreme and skate culture, to Def Jam Recordings and early hip-hop, or Ralph Lauren and the aspirational image of American identity.

III: The Cultural Gap
Despite the global influence of Dominicans across music, sports, fashion, and everyday culture, there is still no singular brand that has become shorthand for modern Dominican identity in the way other brands became tied to specific communities and lifestyles.
That absence creates a major opportunity for SUSTANTIVO to help define that space through thoughtful products, symbolism, and long-term cultural relevance.

V: The Problem
Most Dominican-themed caps on the market felt loud, temporary, or souvenir-like, designed more for special occasions than something you would genuinely want to wear every day.
At the same time, the New Era “RD” cap became proof that there was already strong demand for Dominican representation through headwear.
But the space still felt wide open for a second brand built around timeless design, cultural intention, and emotional connection rather than novelty.

VI: Our Solution
The ambition was simple: create something as timeless and wearable as the Yankee cap, but rooted specifically in Dominican meaning and symbolism.
A cap you can wear with anything. One that means something and makes you feel something.
IV: Licensing and Collaborations
The trademarked RD.1106 mark creates opportunities that extend far beyond SUSTANTIVO’s own products.
Positioned at the intersection of Dominican identity, baseball culture, and fashion, the symbol creates natural pathways for future licensing agreements and collaborations, particularly with MLB teams that have large Dominican fan bases such as the Yankees, Mets, and Red Sox.

IV: Variation and Iteration
The strength of the symbol also creates opportunities for endless reinterpretation over time.
Once people emotionally connect with a mark, it can naturally evolve across different cap silhouettes, fabrics, colorways, jackets, shirts, jewelry, and future collaborations while still remaining instantly recognizable.

So far, SUSTANTIVO has sold over 1,000 caps while operating as a completely self-funded, self-run side project with no retail or distribution partnerships, selling exclusively through our online store.
All sales have come primarily through word-of-mouth, modest META ad spending, and organic community visibility rather than large marketing campaigns or paid celebrity partnerships.
