The Goal: Design a disposable camera that breaks away from the typical approach of repeating patterns or simply using illustrations.

Credits: For this project, I led the concept, creative direction, art direction, and principal design. The illustration of Andy Mineo's face was beautifully crafted by Sam Veatch.

Notes: In 2019, Andy had the idea of selling a custom disposable camera as tour merch. After some quick research, I noticed that most disposable cameras out there followed a pretty standard pattern design—nothing too exciting.

So I thought, why not create our own fake camera company? We drew inspiration from classic sources like old Kodak and FujiFilm disposables, but the back of the camera was uniquely inspired by a Russian metro card design.

At the time, I didn’t fully consider myself a designer. In fact, when I submitted the design to the camera company, I sent them a message saying, “I tried my best to follow the guidelines carefully, but graphic design is not my main thing, so please bear with me if something's off.”

Their response was a game-changer: “I am duly impressed – for someone who says graphic design isn’t their main thing, the art is truly amazing.”

That feedback was a turning point for me. This camera became more than just a project—it marked the moment I started seeing myself as a confident and capable designer. It boosted my self-assurance and set the stage for future projects.
